MRB Wind Power Project
The main rotor of a civilian helicopter of the Mi-8/17 family part number 8AT-2710-00 consists of 5 blades with unique physical, mechanical, and strength characteristics. The blade's strength is provided by a spar with a special cross-section shape made of special alloys.
At the same time, due to the need for flight safety, the service life of such a rotor is limited, and after reaching a certain resource, these rotors are disposed of and cannot be used for aviation purposes.
A team of scientists and engineers from Pakistan has developed a technology for using decommissioned helicopter blades for wind farms.
The technology's novelty lies in a block that allows for changing the blade's inclination (attack angle), as well as a method for replacing the blade blocks while keeping the blade's core (spar).
Due to the exceptional strength parameters of the resulting screws, which are quite heavy, their use is advisable and justified on seashores with increased wind loads.

In addition, the wind power plant design includes a starting unit to ensure the blades start rotating (start is some difficult due to the high moment of inertia of the screw).
